Judged Show

The Ted Paskesen Memorial Trophy At Convention2004, the only competition for plants that will be included will be the awarding of the Ted Paskesen Memorial Trophy for the Best Orange Fuchsia. The trophy was named for the late hybridizer Ted Paskesen who introduced many orange fuchsias like Bicentennial, Eternal Flame and Buttercup, as well as other popular fuchsias such as Hula Girl, Painted Desert and Icicle. The trophy has been awarded at past AFS shows sponsored by the San Jose Branch, Crescent City Branch, San Bruno Branch and San Mateo Branch. Any AFS member may enter any variety or cultivar fuchsia plant in any form (basket, bush, bonsai, etc) that has the word orange, or its derivative, such as salmon, in its description. There will be a limit of two entries per person. The plants must be entered at the Convention site, the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Foster City between 7am and 8am on Friday, September 10th. The fuchsias will remain on display in the Convention Foyer and may be removed after 8pm on Saturday the 11th or at the latest at 11am on Sunday, September 12th. If you are interested in this judged show, you must contact Madalyn Drago, Judging Coordinator in advance (contact information inside front cover of the Bulletin) so arrangements for display can be made.
